EXAMPLE:
Rick is out at a bar in Long Beach.  He is a regular at the bar and knows many of the other bar patrons personally.  Throughout the evening, Rick goes in and out of the bar to smoke cigarettes, greeting people he knows, shaking hands and hugging.  A bouncer at the bar sees Rick talking to different people and shaking hands and suspects that Rick is selling drugs.

The bouncer alerts the bar manager, who calls over a Long Beach Police Department officer parked on the corner.  The bouncer tells the officer that he saw Rick exchange something for money with several bar patrons.  The bouncer also tells the officer that he overheard other bar patrons talking about buying "Molly" and "coke" from a guy in a grey hoodie.

The officer approaches Rick and asks him to come outside of the bar with him.  Rick agrees.  The officer asks Rick if he has anything illegal on his person.  Rick notifies the officer that he is a medical marijuana patient, and shows the officer two small bags of marijuana and a small jar, containing marijuana concentrate.  Rick does not have his medical marijuana recommendation with him, and the officer places him under arrest for possession of concentrated cannabis.  Upon searching Rick's pockets, the officer also finds five pills of "Molly" (an MDMA drug).  Rick is charged with possession of a controlled substance for sale (HS 11379).
